The Egyptian Marketing Company for Phosphate and Fertilizers (EMPHCO) is a joint stock company established on October 9, 2018.
The shareholders are:
- ElNasr Mining Co. - 20%
- Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority - 20%
- National Service Projects Organization - 20%
- East Gas Co. - 20%
- Misr Phosphate Co. - 20%
According to the Articles of Association, the company's roles include:
- Purchasing rock phosphate of various grades from local producers to market and sell internationally.
- Acting as the commercial agent for all phosphate producers in Egypt.
- Marketing and selling all types of commercial fertilizers, including phosphate fertilizers, phosphoric acid, triple super phosphate, double ammonium phosphate, single ammonium phosphate, and related industrial products.
- Providing inland transport of phosphate from production sites to export ports.
- Offering all kinds of logistics services for phosphate and its products, either directly or through intermediaries.
To enhance the company's role, the Council of Ministers issued Resolution No. 39 in 2019, dated April 24, 2019, approving the restriction of phosphate exports exclusively through EMPHCO.
